These patches are reserved for students practicing Kobudo within the World Ju-Jitsu Corporation, which is the in-depth study of traditional Japanese weapons. Each practitioner, according to the skill level and knowledge achieved, must sew the corresponding patch onto their Gi, marking their progress in the challenging and fascinating martial path of weaponry.
The art of Kobudo requires precision, coordination, discipline, and long-term dedication to properly master the techniques and handling of each weapon. For this reason, the journey to an intermediate or advanced level is demanding and not suitable for everyone, requiring patience, consistent training, and deep respect for tradition.
The official WJJC Kobudo syllabus includes a wide range of classical weapons, such as Nunchaku, Sai, Tonfa, Jo, Bo, Stick, Kama, Naginata, Katana, Knife, and Tessen. Each weapon represents a distinct discipline with specific techniques and unique applications that enrich the practitioner’s overall martial training.
Wearing the Kobudo patch on the Gi is not only a mark of technical recognition but also a symbol of commitment, passion, and belonging to an ancient tradition rooted in Japanese culture and the art of warfare and self-defense.
This system of recognition strengthens the sense of community, mutual respect, and motivation for continuous improvement fundamental values for every member of the World Ju-Jitsu Corporation.
